Dear George, It’s Presidents Day – Here’s Why Your Power Grab Won’t Work

It’s simple: Americans are used to being free. When they realize what you’ve done, and what you’re trying to do, they’ll push back like nothing you’ve ever seen. In fact, it’s remarkable that more of them haven’t seen through your act yet, but they will soon enough. You and your group hopes it will be too late by then, but guess what? It’s never going to be too late. What you’re trying to do to the Constitution – to our freedom - is going to go down as your biggest miscalculation ever, and there have been a few. When the American people realize what you’ve done, your plans will drift away like the smoke of which they were made. And all the King’s Horses and all the King’s Henchmen won’t be able to put your plan back together again. Did I say “King”? Excuse me, I almost forgot it was Presidents Day.

I certainly hope you are right, but I've seen very little evidence to date. If anything, the majority of American people seem perfectly willing to let the police state increase its power over their lives so long as the oil keeps flowing and the shelves at WalMart are well-stocked.

Thanks for your comment. I suspect a lot of people go through various levels of hope and doom. Today it seems obvious to me that the American people are going to renounce these right wing talking heads and put freedom first.

Nice thought, Bill, and I genuinely hope you're right. But I don't think so. The scoundrels, thieves, rat-fuckers and assorted criminals with their claws on the levers of power will put tanks in the street before they give up power. We're fucked, and it's just a matter of time before they start rounding up those of us who don't acquiesce. We're one terrorist attack away from absolute martial law and an overt suspension of what little is left of the Bill of Rights in the name of "security."
