Will Dick Cheney Talk? The Latest Fake Drama From the Libby Trial

Here's my take on whether Dick Cheney will testify at the Libby trial. My guess is that there was never any chance. Early on, I bet the deal was made between the White House and Libby to take the fall and then get pardoned in exchange for not ratting out the Prez and the VP on the many things Libby knows. Karl Rove is only too happy to go along, and President Bush has to - even in the unlikely event, he did nothing illegal. Otherwise, Cheney will turn on him. That is not to suggest President Bush is innocent. Dick Cheney got him involved in case it came to this. Cheney doesn't even have to ponder these moves anymore. After decades in Washington, he can insulate himself from criminality without even thinking about it.

So what are we seeing now? An elaborate charade carefully leaked from sources close to the defense team. Oh, the drama! At first it was more than likely Cheney would be called, but now they are in a dilemma over whether to go through with it. Decisions, decisions. What's a lawyer to do?

My guess is that Dick Cheney has worked to guarantee he never takes the stand from Day One. If he does, I will be wrong, and I hope I am. I'd love to hear about Dick Cheney swearing in. They better find a pretty serious crowd of supporters to fill the courtroom if that happens. When Cheney swears to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, it'll be hard not to laugh.

Bill,
Libby is going to be prosecuted and one of the last things bush will do in office is pardon him. He is one of Cheney's boys. He is above the law and if not they will change the law so he is!
