Cheney Deception Becoming Obvious

The trail is getting closer to Dick Cheney in the Plame case. Yesterday he told FOX news, “I may well be called as a witness at some point in the case, and it is therefore inappropriate for me to comment on any facet of the case." A witness? His other comments supported Libby’s allegation that Cheney authorized him to leak pro-war intelligence to the media. How do we know that’s true? Because the material was classified so Cheney is going to say he declassified it first. That explains this quote yesterday: “I have certainly advocated declassification. I have participated in declassification decisions. I don't want to get into that. There's an executive order that specifies who has classification authority, and obviously it focuses first and foremost on the president, but also includes the vice president." I bet this comes down to one of those feeling things where there is no paperwork to indicate he declassified something but in his mind he considered it declassified and he has the power to do that.
So what have we learned? Cheney was actively feeding stories to the New York Times, for example, and then citing them later as proof of his claims. That in itself is deceptive. That shows he consciously tried to deceive the American people by working both ends of the media street.
He planted the “declassified” material he chose and then said, “My, look at what the Times has come up with. That just shows I might be right.”
Unfortunately for Cheney, Libby’s also going to talk about the Plame case, and it will be clear that Cheney was up to his neck in that, too. When Cheney says he might very well be called as a witness in the case, that’s him spinning again. Cheney piously went on, saying, “"Scooter is entitled to the presumption of innocence.” And so are you, Dick. But it’s becoming clearer everyday that you were running a media con game to get America into Iraq. And no matter how many times you shoot a hunting buddy, the story is still going to lead back to that.
