Dick Cheney: Song and Dance As Predicted

The Drudge Report had the bright red letters of a developing news story this weekend: Dick Cheney was going to testify. Oh the drama! As predicted last week in a post below there was no chance. All that was left was to leak it to the press from sources "close to the defense team" that they were agonizing about this. Oh, the agony! Then they had decided to call him as reported by the faithful Republican servants like Drudge, where it was picked up by the mainstream press. Oh, what drama!

I remained hopeful I was wrong - I'd love to see Cheney waddle into court and take the oath to tell the truth. That would be the best comedy of the year.

Instead, it was all a charade. An attempt to show the trial was real when it was anything but...Hearing the pundits talk about getting Libby convicted so he turned on his bosses was ludicrous. This thing was heading for an acquittal or a pardon from before it started. The mainstream pundits should stick to something they're good at like Anna Nicole.

As the defense prepares to rest, I'd just like to revisit one aspect of this thing that we know is true: These phony-macho chicken hawks - faced with a man who was questioning the veracity of why the Bush administration was getting us into Iraq - went crazy. And like the real men we know them to be, they puffed up their chests and went after the man's wife. Happy Valentine's Day, guys. Stop dazzling us with the family values.

Bill,

They weren't "faced with a man who was questioning" why we went into Iraq....they were facing a man who was outright lying about them. At the time, Russia, France, Israel and the UN were in concensus agreement on the Niger/Yellowcake story. M15 continues to stand by thier intel to this day. The liar in this matter is Joe Wilson. Your ire is misdirected. Instead of directing it at Libby or Cheney, direct it at the big mouth who submitted a lying, political hit piece to the New York Times.

Why were they so upset about one editorial?
Gee, could it be because they were in the middle of lying our nation into Iraq and couldn't afford the scrutiny?
Butch, I'm just proud you didn't tie it in with Clinton lying about sex. You're making terrific progress.

Bill,

They were probably upset because it was about the fifteenth time someone connected with the CIA tried to undermine the Pentagon and the nation's support for the war. There was/is a concerting disinformation campaign coming from the CIA, not the administration. Jeez Bill....even those that oppose the war admit that Joe Wilson is a letch, an opportunist, a media hound, and a flat out liar. But he opposes Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld, so still a hero in your eyes.

The case for going to war in Iraq lies in shambles, and you sit in the wreckage arguing that your heroes Bush and Cheney were right, and anyone who challenged the case for war was wrong. The only thing that's changed is the notion that they were mistaken. It's now clear that they lied about the evidence.
I wish President Bush knew about you, Butch. You're so in the tank for these guys, he might even give you the Medal of Freedom.
