Sad Little Protest – Sign of the Times

There’s a traffic island in the Hollywood District where 39th cruises across Sandy and into Broadway. You know, right by Poor Richard’s, if it’s still there. Anyway what a sad little spectacle I saw today: Tiny children waving signs to support the schools. If the adults involved were using the kids to shame us about the school budget crisis – it’s working. At least I felt a little shame. Tiny tykes lobbying for a chance at an education? Not a proud spectacle in the panorama that is Portland. The exhaust fumes alone can’t be helping their little minds grow. Oh well, there has to be a bright side. The bad, uncaring treatment could get them ready for life in the corporate world.
