Football Gods Punish Mike Holmgren

Mike Holmgren’s management of the clock at the end of both halves of this year's Super Bowl, was inexplicably horrendous. There could have been an onside kick at the end of that game, if the field goal kicker had delivered, but we’ll never know because Holmgren was so into his little play sheet he stopped thinking twice.
How could this happen? Remember when Green Bay played Elway’s Denver team and Holmgren intentionally let Denver score so Favre would have additional time? You don’t see that kind of thing everyday: A team lying down, and it reeked of not being proper football. Afterwards Holmgren admitted he was so mad at his team, he had lost track of what down it was, but he insisted the decision to let Denver score was the right one. How could the same guy who would pull a weasel-like stunt such as that to maximize clock advantage, not be aware of what was happening yesterday? My theory: The football gods were displeased with Holmgren ordering Green Bay to lie down for Denver, and Sunday they exacted their revenge.
