JJ Versus Adam: The Shoot-Out Continues

Just another day on the court: Duke’s JJ Redick dropped 35 against Maryland. He’s also wrested the national scoring lead away from Adam Morrison whose Gonzaga team faces Stanford tonight in a televised game. Adam has the edge as a pro prospect. He’s taller and lankier and has a nasty inside game, but JJ should be okay. One NBA GM said Redick has “the stomach of a thief.” Not a bad quote, although I still prefer Dominique Wilkens who said he looked at Larry Bird during a playoff game and saw “the eyes of an assassin.” It’s always interesting when someone does something better than anyone else ever has. I don’t care if its Frisbee golf or snowboarding. Often these things are hard to compare but there’s one great equalizer in basketball: The freethrow. Everyone faces the exact same circumstances. At this point, JJ Redick is the best freethrow shooter in the history of college basketball. The legend continues. Great times in college hoops.
