Things to Avoid When Trying to Crack Up America, #37

When writing a joke for a certain late-night talk show host, always have the proper words at the end of the punch line. Then try to avoid having the band leader respond to the joke before the one you wrote with an adlib that just happens to include the SAME KEY WORDS from your punch line. Failure to avoid this can lead to a diminished joke impact, thus causing people all across America – and in the other 70 countries where the joke is broadcast – to laugh much less than they might have.
