Traditional Values? The GOP Can't Even Pull Off a Traditional Sex Scandal

Am I to believe this vaunted family values party, that's been lecturing us all on how to live, is in a sex scandal? And not an All-American Bill Clinton-style sex scandal, but a Republican Congressman hitting on underage boys? With the knowledge of the GOP leadership who decided keeping power was more precious than protecting children? Aren't these the people who embrace Christian fundamentalism? I guess it's okay to sin and kill and torture if you're godly enough.

Discussing the Republican Party and its leadership is rapidly becoming beneath my dignity, and that doesn't happen every day. These junior Talibans better come up with an explanation quickly. I know. The devil did it. The devil seized control of this good, decent man and forced him to write those vile emails to young male pages who made the unforgivable sin of helping in Congress to see how our government works. Wait, no - Hugo Chavez and Jerry Falwell already played the Lucifer card.

I'm actually sort of stunned today, and remember, I think people in this administration were involved in 9/11. Do you realize how hard it is to be stunned after that? What the Republican Party has done is really quite an accomplishment. Do you have any idea how difficult it is for the GOP to come up with a new low? It's a landmark achievement, and there's only one way for the White House to handle it: President Bush should just give this pervert the Medal of Freedom and move on to something else.

I like how the Republicans are moving toward their base, the churchies, especially the Catholic Church. Cover up the sins while you can, then shove the guilty aside and pretend it didn't happen.
