C-STUDENT TAKES ON MIDDLE EAST PROBLEM!!!

I was feeling bad about this Iraq situation and President Bush tonight when something a friend told me at least 25 years ago, emerged from the deep swamps of time. He told me, “You have to have a certain amount of brains to know you’re stupid.” The Iraq war has been discussed in so many different ways, in such detail, that I think we missed one of the most ridiculous aspects of it completely: What was there in President Bush’s life - the failed businesses, the inability to talk coherently, the general mediocrity – that made him look into the mirror one day and say the following: “The Middle East is one of the most intractable problems the world has ever known, and I’m just the guy to solve it"? Okay, we know he didn’t say “intractable", but seriously, where does he get the confidence in his mental abilities?
I believe most of the problems in this world are caused by people who are not as smart as they think they are. Up until he took office, President Bush had done nothing that you’d give an A-plus to on the report card of life. Okay, I’ll give him the decision to quit drinking and go after Laura, but that was it. Does he even wonder, if he’s so clever, why they call Karl Rove, “Bush’s Brain"? What should that tell him? Yet, this president somehow has the stubborn confidence to think that vast numbers of people, including his own father, just didn’t get it when it came to solving the Middle East.
Do you realize how foolish he had to be, to reach that conclusion?
I know many dignified wonderful people who don’t have strong intellects, but they’ve figured their situation out. Meanwhile President Bush floats in his bubble thinking that he’s doing great. He’s just glad that someone like himself came along - someone who was smart enough to solve this Middle East thing. Yup, America really caught a break when he showed up. You have to have a certain amount of brains to know you’re stupid.
